Banknote and Security Paper
Effective protection against currency counterfeiting starts with the paper. Taking the cotton raw material, Louisenthal deploys cutting-edge technology within a fully secure environment to produce a customised banknote paper with a three-dimensional watermark.

Modern banknote papers must have the mechanical strength to withstand heavy physical stress during circulation in often harsh climatic conditions. Louisenthal’s special portfolio of Hybrid, TOPAS and LongLife durable substrates has been developed to provide the appropriate solution to every customer requirement:  e.g. additional soil-resistant coating, enhanced edge-tear protection or greater mechanical strength.

Besides banknote paper, the Louisenthal product portfolio covers a wide range of other applications such as security paper for passports and other identification documents, cheques, share and bond certificates, vouchers and tokens, certificates of authenticity, excise stripes, fee stamps and admission tickets.

Security Features
Louisenthal also develops and produces a spectrum of highly technical overt and covert security features for integration into the paper. These include optically variable foils used to produce security threads for embedding in the paper, or security stripes for application to the paper’s surface. High-level security elements of this kind are essential for providing protection to today’s banknotes or security documents.

Plant Engineering
Louisenthal also engineers and constructs high-tech turnkey installations throughout the world for the manufacture of high-grade banknote and security paper as well as other products.
