At Louisenthal, we’re committed to the absolute highest levels of quality and environmental responsibility. But don’t take our work for it. Check out our multiple certifications from independent bodies. They confirm that our products and services comply with current standards and regulations and are regularly monitored to ensure they stay that way. We also have an internal quality management system covering all three of our production plants in Louisenthal and Königstein.
INTERGRAF 15374 Certification
At Louisenthal, our commitment to security and quality is unwavering. We are proud to announce that both of our production sites in Gmund and Königstein have obtained the INTERGRAF 15374 certification as Secure Suppliers. This certification underscores our dedication to maintaining the highest security standards in our processes and procedures and ensuring the highest standards for our suppliers. Both of our sites are listed on the official Intergraf website, further affirming our adherence to stringent industry standards.
ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System
At Louisenthal, our customers have been at the heart of everything we do for over 200 years. That’s why we ensure all our processes and procedures meet ISO 9001 requirements. Certification is performed annually by the TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH certification authority at both our sites in Louisenthal and Königstein.
ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Protection Management System
Both our plants in Louisenthal and Königstein are set in beautiful natural surroundings – so it’s no wonder we’re very committed to environmental protection and sustainable production processes. All environment-related processes are audited regularly in accordance with the ISO 14001:2015 standard.
We have also established an environmental management system to ensure ongoing compliance with this standard. Throughout the company, all of our employees actively work to avoid waste and processes or activities with a negative ecological impact.
ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System
Our staff is one of our biggest assets, so we work hard to ensure our employees’ health and safety in our facilities, together with that of visitors like customers, business partners and others. In fact, this is an essential component of company policy at Louisenthal.
We integrated an ISO 45001:2018-compliant occupational health and safety management system into our existing management systems and have kept it certified since 2009.
Each employee contributes to the ongoing improvement of occupational health and safety by working towards relevant goals, which are regularly assessed and supported with preventive actions.
ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System
As a manufacturer of paper, foils, and threads, Louisenthal is an energy-intensive operation. And energy costs are rising dramatically. That’s why we have implemented a centralized energy management system that has improved our energy balance and reduced consumption. We comply with all applicable parameters in the ISO 50001:2018 standard.
CDP Carbon Disclosure Project 2025:

CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) is an international non profit organization that provides a global platform for companies, cities, states, and regions to disclose their environmental impacts across climate change, water security, and deforestation. Through CDP’s scoring system, companies benefit from greater transparency, improved risk management, enhanced stakeholder trust, and the ability to benchmark and continuously improve their environmental performance. CDP is one of the world’s largest environmental disclosure systems, with nearly 25,000 organizations reporting their environmental data through CDP.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi):
Giesecke+Devrient approved Net Zero Targets
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a global corporate climate action program that helps companies set greenhouse gas reduction targets aligned with climate science and the Paris Agreement. Companies benefit through increased credibility, stronger stakeholder trust, and a clear, science based roadmap for decarbonization, supported by validated targets that prevent greenwashing and drive long term resilience. SBTi is one of the world’s fastest growing climate initiatives, with over 11,000 companies and financial institutions participating globally.
DIN CERTICO
Louisenthal received the DIN CERTICO >85% Biobased Carbon content certificate for: Standard Cotton Substrate, Longlife™ Substrate and Green LongLife™
Louisenthal received the DIN CERTICO 20-50% Biobased Carbon content certificate for: Hybrid™ Substrate and the Hybrid™ Green Banknote™
DIN CERTCO’s biobased carbon content certification verifies the proportion of renewable, plant based carbon in products using standardized radiocarbon analysis methods such as ASTM D6866 and ISO 16620. The certification labels products with clear biobased content classes (20–50%, 50–85%, and >85%), helping companies demonstrate the use of renewable raw materials and build customer trust through an independent, internationally recognized “DIN Geprüft biobased” mark.
FSC® Certificate
The production and distribution of passport and security papers by Louisenthal are certified by the FSC®. The FSC-certified wood raw materials used are demonstrably produced in accordance with high ecological and social standards. (FSC License Code FSC-C138716)
