Louisenthal wins IACA “Best House Note Award 2017”

June 08, 2017  In an international field of high caliber finalists, Louisenthal’s RollingStar® LEAD and RollingStar® Registered thread integrated “Water” design took out the coveted International Association of Currency Affairs (IACA) Best House Note Award. The Awards are a highlight of the Currency Conference program held in Kuala Lumpur 14-17 May 2017, and announced at the prestigious Gala Dinner on 17 May. Clemens Berger, designated Chairman of the Board of Directors of Louisenthal, accepted the Award from Eugenie Foster, IACA Executive Director.

Louisenthal wins Industry Award for “Best New Currency Feature”

April 11, 2014 –“We are proud and feel very honored”, said Dr. Wolfram Seidemann, Head of the Banknote Paper Division and Chairman of the Louisenthal Board of Managing Directors, “to have won this year’s ‘Excellence in Currency Awards’ in the category ‘Best New Currency Feature’. This is an acknowledgement of Louisenthal’s leading edge technology and role as innovation driver in security features. The Moroccan 100 Dirham note is a beautiful example for aesthetic feature integration: RollingStar communicates with the ‘rolling bar’ printed in silkscreen with SicpaSpark, building a cross-reference to achieve the highest security standard and easiest feature recognition for the public.”

Louisenthal expands Foil Facility and Triples Capacity

After a construction period of approximately one year, the new production facility for high-security threads and foils was officially commissioned yesterday evening. Louisenthal invested some 30 million euros in the environmentally friendly expansion of its production capacity. Since foil production commenced in 2003, capacity has been almost tripled to 20 million square meters a year. Buoyant sales of high-security features have led to the creation of 50 new jobs at the site.

New Management Board at Louisenthal

Dr. Alfred Kraxenberger is joining the Management Board at Louisenthal as of January 1, 2013, and will fill the newly created position responsible for technology and innovation. His remit will include research and development, the provision of technology for three plants, and project management relating to the industrialisation of new products.

Dr. Wolfram Seidemann has been appointed with effect from January 1, 2012 to the Management Board of Papierfabrik Louisenthal GmbH, where he will be taking over as CEO. In this position, he will be responsible for the Product Management, Marketing, and Sales units of the technology company based in Tegernsee/Germany. This appointment sees Seidemann taking over from Michael Böhm, who retired at the end of 2011, but who will still be active for the company in a consultative capacity.

varifeye® Magic in Kazakhstan’s 1000 Tenge Banknote

On the 5th January the National Bank of Kazakhstan released 10 Million new 1000 Tenge banknotes in commemoration of Kazakhstan’s Presidency of the OSCE in 2010 (OSCE: Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe). The production of this banknote paper involved pioneering work, for which the project has already received extensive recognition.

New banknote paper machine in Königstein

Only 19 months after construction work started at the Papierfabrik Louisenthal paper mill in Königstein, the new cylinder mold machine officially went online today, precisely on schedule. The workforce turned out to celebrate the event together with 130 invited guests. The inauguration of the new plant marks the completion of one of the currently largest industrial investment projects in Saxony. Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) has invested around 70 million euros in the environmentally compatible expansion of its production capacity. The Saxon site’s future output of paper will be enough to produce 11 billion banknotes annually.
